I Consist of Birds, Rabbits, Frogs

We interrupt your blog to briefly note how excited we are to bring one of Russia's most interesting artists into RUSSIA! Limited Edition Series. Take a look at Masha Krasnova-Shabaeva's prints.

Decorating one's apartment with art can be expensive and time consuming. Determined to make this process easy and interesting, RUSSIA! has introduced its Limited Editions series last year. The first edition in the series, The City of Words, a map of St. Petersburg created entirely of quotes about St. Petersburg, was featured in the New Yorker and numerous design blogs and became part of the prints collection of the Russian Design Museum.

Our newest edition in the series is a three-piece set by Masha Krasnova-Shabaeva, one of the most interesting illustrators in the country. Here at RUSSIA!, we are big fans of Shabaeva's style and this set is our favorite. Each print in the series is limited edition - only 100 of each were printed on high quality acid-free archival paper. The twelve-by-eighteen prints are called "Rabbits", "Birds" and "Frogs" and cost $35 each.

Bad Art For Putin

 by Marina Galperina
So, Shepard "Hope Poster" Fairey is still trying to ride that co-opted optimism wave — he's just co-edited the new Art for Obama book. Well, Russia's got a dusty stockpile of old presidential art too. Well, it's not "presidential" anymore/yet (Medvedev's still keeping Putin's seat warm for him until the next election). And it's less art-book and more tacky-thrift-store material, mostly. But let's dig through the pile anyway, because Yes, We Can Too... kind of.
