Construction boom transformed Moscow over the last decade and some of the newer buildings there do look like cocks (thank you, Curbed.com!.) But lately, after the high oil prices building rush is over, developers aim for beauty rather than masculinity. Here are twelve new buildings that were put up for the "Building of the year" award.
The award was created in 2006 by Made in Future Architectural magazine to "increase awareness of the architecture in Russia and to increase accountability of the architects." About fucking time!
Office Building and State Bank branch, 2008
Initially, the office building on Tsvetnoi Bulvar was supposed to have glass walls on two top floors, but Moscow authorities objected stating that with the glass walls the building will require too much electricity in the winter.
Avenue 77 Apartment Building, North Chertanovo, 2005-2008
The apartment complex was supposed to change the mundane landscape of Chertanovo, a Moscow equivalent of the Bronx.
